The USDA announced Michael Alston has been named the Associate Administrator of the Risk Management Agency (RMA). Mr. Alston brings years of experience within RMA, as well as with other federal agencies to the recent career position.
Mr. Alston’s strong program knowledge and leadership experience has provided guidance for many years within the agency, and for all of its key programs. Previous to his position as Associate Administrator, Mr. Alston oversaw crop insurance operations in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio as the Director of the Springfield Regional Office. Mr. Alston also served as the Assistant Deputy Administrator for Compliance and Deputy Administrator of the Insurance Services of RMA.
Prior to joining USDA Mr. Alston worked for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), State Department. During his tenure with the DEA, Mr. Alston was assigned overseas working on a counter-narcotic program, for the State Department after the two east African US Embassies were bombed.
A native of Michigan, Mr. Alston is a graduate from Michigan State University.
